Online Home Learning

During the closure of the school due to Covid-19, we provided resources to support parents with their children’s learning at home. In the event of further closures, or periods of individual or bubble self isolation, we are continuing to use Tapestry and Google Classroom for those children unable to attend school.

Tapestry (Nursery and Reception)
Each week, teachers are posting slides used in school on Tapestry. Teachers and Early Years Practitioners will also be posting videos and ideas of activities that you can use to support your child’s learning at home. Parents can communicate with class teachers via Tapestry and are able to upload images and explanations of what the children have been doing at home.

You should have received your login details for Tapestry and be familiar with how to login, access the activities and post images and descriptions to your child’s Tapestry Learning Journal. If you are unable to login, please contact the school office.

Google Classroom (Year 1-Year 6)
Each week teachers are posting slides used in school on Google Classroom.
Instructions for using Google Classroom attached below.
In the event of whole school closure:
There will be timed sessions in the week when children can contact their teachers.
All children have a reminder of their Google Classroom login in their home learning book.

Google Meet may be used for classes to meet online with their teachers.
Teachers will give children details about this on Google Classroom.
Google Meet does not work on Safari browser. Mobile devices need an app.

Other South Rise logins (all detailed in home learning book)

As part of maths provision at South Rise, pupils in Years 1-6 also have logins for EdShed and TimesTables Rockstars, both of which are accessible from home at all times.

Further resources
In the event of whole or partial closure, there are many websites providing a wealth of resources for home learning for children across the school, including the government website and BBC Bitesize. We have listed some of these on the Further Resources page for you to look at as required. While it is valuable to have so many resources available, seeing so many can be daunting. They are there so you can select ideas and support for learning you are doing at home, and can be fitted in between equally important fresh air, exercise and downtime.  The teachers will, at times direct pupils to certain ones.

Keeping you informed
We will keep you informed regularly of provision for home learning in letters to parents and letters to children.
The Compass Partnership Trust are also sending regular letters home.

Please see COVID 19 Information page regarding the risk assessment for South Rise
