Science Day

The children in year 5 were extremely excited about science day last half term. Throughout the day the children took part in over 5 experiments as well as presentations from expert scientists from outside agencies.

In year 5, our investigations focussed on the properties of the water molecules. We learnt that water is made up of Hydrogen and Oxygen and discovered how the atoms are ‘joined’ together with bonds. We also investigated Capillary Action and discovered that water molecules are ‘sticky’ and like to join onto each other as they move around.

We were extremely lucky to have an expert in marine biology come and present key facts and information about life in the oceans of the world. Many children were extremely interested in finding out about the sea turtles and how we can prevent their extinction.
