Reception Science Day

It was science day at South Rise today and reception children had a fantastic time doing science experiments.  We found out how magnets can attract or repel.  We investigated what materials will stick to magnets.  We found out which objects float in water and which objects sink.  We discovered what static is when our hair stuck up after being rubbed by balloons and we had fun watching as the balloons stuck to our heads or onto surfaces.  We watched colour from sweets dissolve in water.  We also had great fun mixing vinegar with bicarbonate of soda to get a chemical reaction.  We used this reaction to blow up balloons.  The animal man showed us jungle animals which included snakes and scorpions.  They felt soft and tickly.  We can’t wait to try out other experiments.
