The Ancient Greeks, maths and Sports Careers Day

Year 5 have had an exciting week of learning!

On Friday all the children came to school in their PE kits for Sports Careers Day. Throughout the day the children and adults took part in many exciting activities including: circuit training, taekwondo, dance, cricket, football and a talk from a real sports physiotherapist. The whole day was a huge success and has given the children a greater insight into how they can be involved in sport as a career in later life!

In unit of learning the children were deciding where to take there line of inquiry. The children have decided that they would love to learn more about the Ancient Greek Olympics and how they were similar and different to modern day Olympics. We are all looking forward to our Ancient Greek Day next week.

In maths we have been really focussing on division and multiplication. The children have been using their times table knowledge to solve multiplication and division problems. Some children have decided on using their own preferred method of dividing (grouping objects or using cubes) before moving onto a formal written method.
